Vehicle accident, with injuries

A police report is required in the event of an accident involving injuries. Accordingly, the first thing you should do is call 911 if you are in an accident that results in injuries.

When making a claim, have the following information handy:

  • Your insurance policy number or your auto insurance certificate
  • The police report number
  • The contact information of the injured person(s) and a description of the injuries
  • The contact information of the driver, if you were a passenger
  • The contact information of the other driver involved in the accident
  • The contact information of any witnesses
  • The location where the accident occurred

Examples of situations when a police report is required

  • An accident with injuries
  • A hit-and-run accident
  • If the total damage exceeds the monetary amount set out in your province
  • If public property is damaged, e.g. a tree, pole, lamp post, road sign, etc.

Auto Glass Repair or Replacement

Your windshield is an important safety feature, so it's important to keep it in good condition. In an impact, the windshield:

  • Prevents passengers from being ejected
  • Supports the roof and stops it from being crushed in a rollover

Repair or replace?

  • If your windshield has sustained minor damage (e.g., star break or fissure smaller than a quarter), it can usually be repaired
  • If your side or rear window is damaged, it must be replaced

To fix glass breakage

If your policy includes glass breakage coverage, simply:

  1. Call a trustworthy glass repair shop to arrange for an appointment.
  2. Show your auto insurance certificate. The auto glass repair shop will contact us for payment.
